Discord

Fiction.

Satan decided to gather together his key dominions to see how they were doing in the battle against God's army. They were all crowded around a large table in a huge room. There was muttering and mumbling amongst the ranks. Satan raised himself up at the head of the table. The room hushed to a whisper as he addressed them.

"I want to know what you have all been doing to win this fight!" he commanded.

The spirit of deception meekly raised his hand. "Please sir, I've been making a little headway in persuading people that the bible is fiction." Another spirit Jeered “yeah, but for every one you win over, the enemy wins two. I have done much better!”

“Oh?” said Satan, and who are you?

“I am the spirit of addiction. I have caused many of the enemy to stumble, getting them addicted to porn. They get caught up in a cycle of guilt and sin. They feel too guilty to witness, and they become ineffective.”

Satan is impressed at this work “can anyone do better than this?” He asked.

“Sir,” said the spirit of discord, “he has done well, but the enemy is starting to wise up to the dangers of addiction.” The spirit of discord stands up, and raises his voice slightly “whereas I have found a way to make the enemy destroy each other.”

Satan was intrigued, and encouraged the spirit of discord to continue.

“Sir, I told this group ‘The KJV’ is the only correct version of the bible. I told this other group ‘The NIV’ is the only correct version. They now use the bible against each other instead of against us.

“I told one group ‘The gifts of the holy spirit do not exist today’ and whispered to another ‘speaking in tongues is the most greatest of all gifts’ and watch them both ‘discern’ each other to be heretics.

“I told this crowd that the king of the enemy will never return and another crowd that the king will return at 5:10pm tomorrow. I watch them determined to prove each other wrong.

“I made these people put the law above grace, and these other people put grace above the law. When they talk with each other, they neither obey the law nor show grace.”

The more the spirit of discord spoke, the more he boasted of his efforts: “I made these two churches that are on opposite sides of the street refuse to ever share communion together

“I’ve made Brother fight against Brother and Sister fight against sister. All in the name of the enemy. They are so busy bickering with each other; they have no time to fight us.”

At this, Satan praised him “You have shown more ingenuity than all of the others put together. If you keep up this good work, I will rule, and when I rule, you will be my right hand man.”
